Boxing

Boxing is a combat sport in which two participants, typically wearing gloves and protective gear, engage in a contest of strength, speed, and skill by throwing punches at each other. Matches are usually held in a square ring and consist of a series of timed rounds. The objective is to score points by landing strikes on the opponent while avoiding hits, or to achieve a knockout by incapacitating the opponent. Boxing has a rich history and is governed by a set of rules that define permissible techniques and conduct. It can be practiced both competitively and recreationally, serving as a form of exercise, self-defense, and sport.
